Hey Queen 👋

Hai, I’m Alison, and I’m the founder of Beeseene. Right now, I’m still a complete one-person show running every single part of this, from designing the gear to packing the orders.

Be bold. Be different. Beeseene.

Beeseene was born from my absolute love of riding, a complete frustration with boring gear ugh, and a total refusal to compromise on safety, queens deserve to be safe!

My journey on two wheels started back in 2018 riding pillion. By 2020, I decided that I wanted to take up riding for myself and got my very first bike: Bee. Riding gave me an unbelievable sense of freedom, but it also made me realise just how terrible the gear options were for women.

Looking for gear was always a nightmare for me because of my proportions. Everything on the shelf was old, vintage, or just a sea of boring, boxy black. It felt like it was all designed by men who thought they understood women's bodies. The few "cute" pieces I could actually find were outdated and nowhere near modern safety standards. There was barely anything out there for women who wanted something stylish and safe, and I wanted to change that.

The story behind the name

The idea for Beeseene hit me during a ride out with a friend. It was getting dark on a quiet country road at night in the middle of nowhere when her back brake light went out. The only thing I could see in the pitch black was the tiny reflective strip on the back of her bike.

I sat there thinking: why don’t we make motorcycle gear that actually stands out during the day and lights up at night?

That’s how the name came together:

  • B-E-E is named after my bike (which is decked out in classic Barry Sheene colours).

  • SEENE plays on "Seen", staying visible, and pays homage to legendary British racer Barry Sheene.

  • The N-E at the end stands for the North East of England, where I'm proudly based.

Safety that actually comes standard

I’m not just designing gear; I’m a rider who has come off her bike more times than I’d like to admit. I hold the record among my friends for coming off during my learning phase and general riding, so I know from real experience what gear actually needs to do when you hit the ground.

I took this from a basic concept to gear that is fully AA rated with CE Level 2 armour in 6 months. For my future collections I will aim to half that and become as efficient as possible without compromising on our gear.

One thing I put my foot down on was including the back protector as standard. When you buy a jacket, you expect it to be ready to wear and protect you straight away. Why should you have to pay extra for a back protector? It should just be in the jacket, so that's exactly what I did.

The Bigger Picture: Empowering the Next Generation

Riding gave me my freedom. For those girls that are stuck in situations they would rather not be in, getting on a bike is liberating and empowering in more ways than one.

My ultimate goal is to empower the younger generation of riders, especially women, to get on a bike without fear, knowing they’re fully protected and looking good doing it.

I’m not here to just make a few jackets; I want Beeseene to stand on the same stage as the massive grassroots brands like Alpinestars, RST, and Dainese. I want us to become a household name globally.

Motorcycling is just where we start. Our high-impact reflective technology and protective philosophy are coming to everything where safety matters, from equestrian gear and dog walking to children’s outerwear.
